Fantastic Goodreads/Instagram review from Robert A. Karl!

Image
I’m so excited about this amazing review on Goodreads and Instagram from the highly-esteemed Robert A. Karl, author of the “Clubbed” series of historical gay fiction. Thanks a million, Robert!   You can find his instagram page at  https://www.instagram.com/@robertkarl_inpr  and links to his books at  https://www.linktr.ee/robertkarl “5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sexy Story of MMM love These ruggedly handsome gay men in Australia meet, become housemates and bedmates. What could possibly go wrong? This book contains many delightfully detailed descriptions of MMM sex. Their passions for one another are so open and honest, making this a refreshing and exciting read. Add in the Aussie slang, and I was hooked! You almost don’t realize how much you’re learning about each character, just by reading about their interactions and how they treat one another. This shows a real talent in this author, who was new to me before this book. The Lookout has more happy endings than a day at a 24-h...

New reviews for "Hound" and "The Lookout" by Anna’s Bookstagram

Huge thanks to Instagram reviewer Anna’s Bookstagram (@bookishbananna) for taking the time out to read and review not one, but BOTH of my new books on Instagram and Goodreads. How wonderful it is when someone truly gets everything I was trying to convey to the reader. It’s comments like these that make the hard slog of writing well and truly worth it! Please check out and follow her page at:   https://www.instagram.com/bookishbananna Special mention to my models Beppe and Tonka 🥰              Review for “Hound” “Ok so this took me totally by surprise. Did not expect to have such a strong emotional reaction. I even cried a little. This novel follows Gary and Jeff at the beginning of their relationship. Enjoyed the focus being on two side characters from Colin’s other book – The Lookout.  There was some really intense feelings in this one. Captured so well the misunderstandings couples can have when they don’t communicate and instead try ...

CLUBBED by Robert A. Karl (review)

Image
I was a little late to the party with this book—especially seeing as Part Two of this three-part series is now on our doorstep—but for those of you who haven’t discovered this fictional slice of gay history yet, you’re missing out. Perhaps it’s a Roman à clef, or perhaps the author just has an innate talent for writing in a meandering, autobiographical style—either way, it’s addictive, so much so that a normally pedantic reader like me buzzed through it in a matter of a few hours.  This volume covers the hedonistic era of disco, drugs and rampant sex leading up to the first signs of GRID/AIDS in 1981. But whilst it whirls through the party aspects of queer culture, one eye is kept firmly on the struggles that the LGBTQ community faced in that era: the rampant and unchecked discrimination, the bashings, the murders, the harrassment and abuse perpetrated by police. As queer people in the twenty-first century, we must never forget how much harder our recent forebears had it, and how m...

"Hound" Synopsis Reveal

Image
I’m very excited about my upcoming book “Hound”, which will be published by Pink Flamingo Media. It’s a passionate, unorthodox romance centring around two characters who appear in “The Lookout”—Angus’s friends, Gary and Jeff. Expect a lot of steamily explicit bear/otter love scenes, the odd group romp, a bit of nude life drawing, a couple of dirty weekends away, a wild and wacky best friend, some drama, some heartache, and a very resolute HEA.   Find the full synopsis below! ‘ Gary’s lived with bipolar disorder since he was eighteen. He’s stable and has a great career, family and friends, but at forty he’s never had a relationship. Casual sex has always been the easy option—fun, plentiful and no risk of upsetting the unruly emotions that simmer below his calm exterior.  This all changes the moment he meets Jeff. There’s no doubt in Gary’s mind that Jeff’s The One. But even though Jeff seems to be equally smitten, he only wants a part-time arrangement. Jeff works long hours, tr...

An Awesome Review of "The Lookout" on Erotic Book Network

Image
Thank you, Kevin, for the most wonderful review on  https://www.eroticbooknetwork.com . I’m tickled pink over it! “Colin Dereham’s The Lookout is a great read.  It is a tale of one becoming three, and is explored through meaningful eroticism, tinged with a poignancy that is so rare in this genre.  It explores what happens when lives collide, and lust takes over, only to evolve into a meaningful love full of the complexity that comes from living in a throuple.   The eroticism is meaningful and balanced.  The opening chapter is epic, but real.  What I like about this novella is it bridges the gap between eroticism and literature so well. The characters have depth, and it is impossible not to form an attachment with each of them, particularly the character of Gus, a loveable cuddly bear with a heart filled full of compassion and so much love to give.  The story is contemporary and explores more than just intimacy and sex...

"The Lookout" Reviews

I’m really grateful to the people who have left these reviews for “The Lookout” on Amazon and Erotic Book Network. It means the world to me that there are people out there enjoying my steamy little tale of three bears living by Bondi Beach.   CC’s Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5.0 out of 5 stars   Definitely recommend as a great summer read. Reviewed in Australia on 14 January 2022 Verified Purchase The Lookout is the story of Angus, who experiences instant and profound chemistry with his two new flatmates. They quickly form a throuple and the fun intensifies over the next few months. This long novella starts off as a wild sexy romp, then morphs into a moving, poignant tale as things go wrong, leading to disastrous results. The chemistry between the characters was electric and they complemented each other beautifully. The breezy style of writing made it easy to slip into the book comfortably. It was wonderful to see how the main characters managed to pick up the pieces and find happiness ...
